Helleborus Niger, commonly known as Christmas Rose is a clump forming, semi evergreen perennial which has dark green, leathery, lobed leaves. In the months of January and February the Helleborus Niger bears lovely pure white, bowl shaped flowers, often flushed with pink colouring.
Known to be a great addition planted at the front of flower beds and borders, also used as underplanting of roses and trees and suits many garden planting schemes. Can be used for cut flowers.
Helleborus Niger care
Plant the Helleborus Niger in a partially shaded location suitable for neutral to alkaline soils which are well drained and will grow in clay and heavy soils. When planting it is beneficial to add organic matter to the hole. Prune any damaged, dead or faded foliage as the flowers appear and apply a good quality and amount of mulch at the base of the plant in autumn time.
