Miscanthus ‘Malepartus’, commonly known as Chinese Silver Grass is a bushy, deciduous grass which has tall arching leaves with pure white midribs. In the months of August and September the Miscanthus ‘Malepartus’ will bloom lovely pink feathery flower heads which age to a silver colour in late summer. Quick to establish and creating a wonderful sight if planted in groups when the wind blows the foliage and feather like flowers. Plant in flower beds and borders where it will create colour and movement although will suit many other locations, garden types and planting schemes.

Miscanthus ‘Malepartus’ care

Plant the Miscanthus ‘Malepartus’ in a sunny location with moist, well drained soil where it will thrive. Make sure to protect from winter wet as the Miscanthus dislikes this. Generally disease and pest free and some pruning makes this grass plant a perfect choice for both expert and beginner gardeners alike. Simply remove any dead or damaged foliage and old flower stems in spring time to encourage a more bushy, healthy growth in the seasons ahead.
