Imperata Red Baron, commonly known as Blood grass is a stunning tufted, deciduous grass plant which has these striking clumps of long, linear, strap like leaves of ‘blood’ red colouring! In the summer sunshine the leaves are known to glimmer and become a fantastic eye catcher! In the months from June to August the Imperata Red Baron blooms narrow silvery grey flower panicles adding that extra interest to this already stunning plant.

A perfect addition to a flower bed or perennial border for example, often planted in designer gardens and suiting a huge variety, if not all garden types including city and cottage gardens.

Imperata Red Baron care

The Imperata Red Baron thrives in a sunny or partially shaded location of the garden with moist, well drained soil. Very easy to grow and maintain, generally disease and pest free makes this grass plant a perfect plant for beginners and expert gardeners alike. In spring simply prune back to the ground and remove any flowered stems which will encourage a healthy, bushy growth the following seasons.
