Eucalyptus Gunnii, commonly known as Cider Gum is an upright evergreen, large shrub or small tree. With long upright stems of cream and black peeling bark, and these stunning bright blue/green rounded leaves which are elliptic. In July and August the Eucalyptus Gunnii blooms wonderful tiny white flower clusters, although beautiful the main gem of this plant is the foliage which is often seen in bouquets and flower arrangements.
Known for insect repellent properties and a good all rounder, common planting locations include containers, architectural schemes and sub tropical patio planting schemes.
Eucalyptus Gunnii care
The Eucalyptus Gunnii will thrive in full sun and moist, well drained soils with room to grow and mature into the large shrub/tree it desires. This shrub requires little to no pruning although can benefit from an occasional light prune which will encourage a healthy vigorous growth in time. Cover in a good quality compost and fertiliser where needed.
