Escallonia Iveyii or sometimes know by just its first name, Escallonia, is a bushy, evergreen shrub which has glossy green, large leaves which often obtain this unique, bronze tinge in the colder weather. In June to September the Escallonia Iveyii bears these wonderfully fragrant clusters of white, tubular flowers. Being evergreen means this shrub provides you with all year interest perfect for low maintenance gardens.
Other planting locations include sheltered flower beds and borders, cottage or coastal planting schemes, and if planted in groups can form a perfect low maintenance hedge/screen to build privacy in the garden.
Escallonia Iveyii care
Plant the Escallonia Iveyii in full sun or dappled, partial shade and with fertile, well drained soils where it will thrive. Being full hardy means it generally can be planted and needn’t worried about after that, essential for a low maintenance garden or gardener of any ability. We would recommend pruning in late spring, by cutting back any branches that mishaps the growth, once pruned be sure to apply a generous amount of good quality compost or manure to provide the plant with the needed nutrients to continue to thrive.
