Eryngium Variifolium, commonly known as Moroccan Sea Holly is a small, neat, evergreen perennial with mid green leaves, deeply divided and with a slight spike to their edges, known to have a slight silver/grey vein along the tops.

In the months from July all the way through to October the Eryngium Variifolium produces these tall, erect stems with cone shaped grey flowers, tinged with a slight blue colouring and bright pure white colours underneath.

Eryngium Variifolium care

Can be planted in an exposed setting, thriving in full sun and well drained soil the Eryngium Variifolium will produce the most wonderful crop! Be sure to protect from becoming winter wet, but apart from that this Eryngium is fully hardy and can cope in the typical ‘British weather!’ Light pruning is required after the perennial flowers, although many gardeners will leave the plant, un-pruned as the seedbeds in the winter create an interest still, for a much longer period of time than cutting these off.
