Until 30 years ago these historic gardens were unseen. They were lost to a network of brambles as time passed since World War 1. A chance discovery led to their discovery and restoration to what is now one of the finest gardens in England.
Over 200 acres are now available for plant lovers to explore all year round. The Jungle is a journey through bamboo tunnels, under trees, giant rhubarb and bananas. The estate offers the lost world of rare and traditional breeds, wildlife and ancient woodland.
A recent Visit England Attractions Survey, which gathered information from more than a thousand UK historic houses and other attractions showed that outdoor attractions such as gardens have shown a big increase in popularity. For example, we recently attended an event promoting UK attractions with stalls, vendors and promotional items from usherette trays to raise awareness about different UK gardens.
