Stipa Pony Tails has been renamed Stipa Tenuissima. It is commonly known as Mexican Feather Grass. It is a tufted, deciduous grass. Forming an upright structure of thin, wispy green, almost yellow leaves. In June through to September the Stipa Pony Tails will produce tall, arching stems. It also produces and feather like green flowers which mature into a blonde, cream colour. Creating a stunning display blowing in the soft breeze.

Suits a variety of locations and makes a real impact planted at the front of a mixed border, where the low growth and movement creates a wonderful display. Can be grown in containers and pots for gardens without beds and borders. A great all round garden plant.

Stipa Pony Tails care

Plant the Stipa Pony Tails in a warm, sunny area of the garden. Moist, well drained soil where it will thrive. Easy to grow and maintain. Generally disease and pest free. Makes for a great garden plant for gardeners of all experience. We would recommend a prune after the leaves begin to die off before the new foliage appears. This gives a more bushy, tufted growth the following season.

The Tenuissima or Pony Tails has also been award the RHS Award of Garden Merit. This highlights its suitability for almost any garden!
