Pittosporum are generally pest and disease free, although sometimes troubled by leaf spot or powdery mildew. An easy to care for plant and suitable to grow in many if not all locations, preferring a sunny position which also encourages the plentiful production of its flowers and although frost hardy, some winter protection from very cold, drying winds may be required. Very little pruning is necessary and any shaping or removal of dead or damaged branches should ideally be done after the flowering period. The use of a good general purpose fertiliser is best done early Spring.
