Laurus Nobilis, commonly known as bay tree is a bushy evergreen, large shrub which has narrow, oval shaped green leaves, known to be leathery at touch and often used in cooking. In the months from March through to May the Laurus Nobilis blooms small green and yellow flower clusters, closely followed by glossy black fruits. With this shrub the main star of the show is the foliage with just the added extra of flowers.
This shrub can be planted in a variety of planting locations, garden types and planting schemes making a good all round garden plant. Can be grown in pots and containers, good for a sunny balcony or garden without grass, and can be planted in groups to create a dense bush/screen in the garden.
Laurus Nobilis care
Plant the Laurus Nobilis in a sunny, partially shaded area of the garden with moist well drained soils where it will thrive, coping very well in containers. Requiring very minimal if any pruning makes this Laurus a good plant for gardeners of all abilities. In late winter you may be required to lightly prune the shrub although only your choice, simply cut back any branches which effect the framework of the plant, or leave to form a natural specimen shrub.
