Hydrangea Serrata Bluebird, commonly known as Hortensia is a small, bushy, deciduous shrub which has broad, oval shaped green leaves which turn a striking red in autumn. In the months of June to September the Hydrangea Serrata Bluebird blooms lovely lace capped flower heads of blue flowers and light blue or pale pink florets which create a stunning contrast.

An easy to plant shrub which suits flower beds and borders, low maintenance gardens and can be seen in containers suitable for balconies and non grass gardens. Suitable for a range of garden types also.

Hydrangea Serrata Bluebird care

Plant the Hydrangea Serrata Bluebird in a sunny, partially shaded location with moist, well drained soils where it will thrive. Be sure to water well in the warmer, dryer months as the Hydrangeas don’t cope well with dry soils. In spring, cut back the faded flowerheads and remove any dead or damaged foliage which will encourage a healthier growth for the next season. Mulch well at the base once pruned.
