Hydrangea Petiolaris, commonly known as climbing hydrangea is a climbing, deciduous climber and shrub with oval shaped, broad, mid green leaves which turn golden yellow in autumn. In the months of May and June the Hydrangea Petiolaris bears wide flower heads with small fertile flowers which are randomly surrounded with lovely white petaled flowers.

Recommended planting areas include wall side borders where the aerial roots will cling to the wall and climb nicely. Can be grown in posts against walls which again will begin to climb and create a nice colour against a typically ugly area of the garden (the garden wall!).

Hydrangea Petiolaris care

The Hydrangea Petiolaris thrives in a sunny, partially shaded area in a sheltered location with moist, well drained soils. Only prune back if you need, do this in spring time, hard pruning may restrict flowering the following year so we would advise to leave if possible, also being disease free which means this Hydrangea makes a perfect garden plant for beginners and expert gardeners alike.
