Hamamelis X Intermedia Jelena, commonly known as witch hazel is a hardy, deciduous, bushy shrub with broad, oval shaped mid green leaves which turn a wonderful yellow and red colour in the autumn months. In January and February the Hamamelis X Intermedia Jelena bears orange and copper coloured flowers across the branches which are known to be fragrant. Often planted in flower beds, flower borders, or planting schemes with enough room for this large shrub with its open growth habit.

Hamamelis X Intermedia Jelena care

Plant the Hamamelis X Intermedia Jelena in a partially shaded, sunny location of the garden with well drained soils which it will love. Known to be a low maintenance, hardy plant makes a good garden plant for both beginners and experts alike. Generally pest free and requiring minimal pruning; simply cut back and remove any dead or damaged branches, or any which begin to mishape the shrub in early spring. Once pruned, apply a generous serving of mulch to the base of the plant.
