Garrya Elliptica ‘James Roof’, commonly known as Silk Tassel is a large, bushy, evergreen shrub which has dark green, glossy leaves which are wavy edged making them interesting viewing. In December through to February the Garrya Elliptica ‘James Roof’ blooms drooping silk tassels of creamy white creating fantastic winter colour and interest.
You will often see this shrub planted against walls to grow up, or in beds and borders where they can create a stunning feature with its large growth.

Plant in a sunny, partially shaded location of the garden making sure to have well drained, moist soil where it will thrive. Generally pest free and requiring some pruning if and when it’s needed, in the months of April and May simply cut back any dead or damaged branches to encourage a more healthy growth and a shape you want.
