Fuchsia Tom Thumb, commonly known as Hardy Fuchsia is an upright bushy, deciduous shrub with stunning foliage. The small mid green leaves provide a stunning backdrop to the pendant like red and purple single flowers, which appear in abundance from June through to October or the first frosts. A superbly colourful border plant or may be grown as a low informal hedge, attracting bees and butterflies to the garden.
Often planted in containers means this Fuchsia can be a great addition to gardens without grass, and simply pots and containers. Even on balconies if protected from the wind and in a sunny location!
Fuchsia Tom Thumb care
Plant the Fuchsia Tom Thumb in full sunlight with moist, well drained soils. Will grow in dappled shade and likes to be protected from cold winds. We would recommend if the weather drops to move the Fuchsia into a conservatory or greenhouse where it will cope well. Prune in spring months by cutting down to encourage a more vigorous healthy growth for the upcoming season. In the growing season make sure to water well and feed once a month.
