Fuchsia Magellanica Versicolor, commonly known as Hardy Fuchsia is a bushy deciduous shrub with fantastic foliage. Light green/grey leaves form which are margined with a creamy white colour, flushed with light pink when young. In May all the way through to October the Fuchsia Magellanica Versicolor produces lovely purple sepals and pink petalled flowers.
A great border plant or sometimes used as an informal hedging shrub where it can create up to 1.5m of height and privacy. Furthermore can be grown in containers which make a great addition to non grass gardens or balconies which have sunny positions.
Fuchsia Magellanica Versicolor care
Plant the Fuchsia Magellanica Versicolor in a sunny location, or partially shaded area of the garden making sure to have well drained soil. When planting, plant the stem around 5cm below the soils surface and cover in a good mulch or quality garden compost. Prune once a year in springtime by cutting back to near ground level which will encourage new, healthy shoots and blooms for the season ahead.
