Dryopteris Erythrosora, commonly known as Buckler Fern is a semi-evergreen, clump forming fern, referred often to as the best garden fern for the UK. With broad, triangular shaped mid green fronds which, when young are a lovely copper orange colour, and pink spore heads.

We recommend the Dryopteris Erythrosora for its ease of growing and lovely colours, often planted with other woodland plants which contrasts well and shaded underplanting.

Dryopteris Erythrosora care

The Dryopteris Erythrosora thrives in shaded, moist areas replicating forest conditions, will also cope in sunlight if kept well watered. When planting we would use well rotted leaf mould and a good garden compost, making sure to water regularly in its first season. Generally disease and pest free and needing minimal pruning makes a great low maintenance fern. Prune by cutting back in winter months any damaged or dead fronds to encourage new, healthy growth.
