Cistus Purpureus or more commonly known as Purple flowered rock rose is a pretty, bushy evergreen shrub which has narrow mid green leaves, occasionally crinkled on the edging. In the months of June and July the Cistus Purpureus produce these show stopping, bowl shaped, purplish pink flowers which have dark red blotches across the petals creating a remarkable display in the warmer months.
Earning the RHS Award of Garden merit for its easy to grow nature and suitability for the average UK garden adds even more practical benefits to this shrub. Not only this, but it is known to grow well in almost any location, garden type and planting schemes, guaranteed to make an impact.
Cistus Purpureus care
The Cistus Purpureus will thrive in a warm, sunny area of the garden, sheltered from any strong winds. With moist, fertile, well drained soils. Generally disease and pest free and only some pruning makes this Cistus a great garden plant for gardeners of all abilities from beginners to expert gardeners alike. After flowering lightly prune any stems which effect the plants symmetry but don’t prune hard as the plant dislikes this.
