Caltha Palustris commonly known as Marsh Marigold is a low growing, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial which has mid green, rounded leaves forming a dense foliage covering. In March and April the Caltha Palustris will produce deep, summer yellow buttercup like flowers, contrasting really well against the foliage.

Not only a favourite with humans, the Caltha is a firm favourite with the wildlife too. A low maintenance shrub that can suit any location of the garden, a range of planting schemes and garden types making the perfect all round garden plant for the uk garden.

Caltha Palustris care

Plant the Caltha Palustris in a sunny, partially shaded area of the garden with boggy, poorly drained soils where it will thrive. Next to the pond makes a perfect planting location where the oxygen and nutrients are bursting. Generally pest free and only some pruning makes a good plant for beginner and expert gardeners alike. Once the shrub has finished flowering cut back to encourage a healthy bushy growth.
