Buxus Sempervirens, commonly known as Common Box is a compact, bushy, evergreen shrub with a traditional British native and firm favourite, which has these small, ovate glossy green leaves. Buxus has a dense habit which makes it a common hedging plant and the classic topiary shrub.
The Buxus Sempervirens is a fantastic plant for borders, low growing if maintained well or hedging, occasionally used as a star of the show if trimmed in a creative way, we have seen amazing artists creating stunning displays with these plants.
Buxus Sempervirens care
The Buxus Sempervirens thrives in a shaded part of the garden, if too hot can scorch and with soil which is well drained. To create a dense habit and screening hedge, plant around 30cm apart and water often. To get your creative juices flowing, prune the Buxus Sempervirens in late summer to shape the shrub how you want, fertiliser should then be applied.
If you think creating topiary shapes from scratch is too much then view our Buxus Sempervirens 35cm ball plant or Buxus Sempervirens 80cm plants.
