Aucuba Japonica Golden King, commonly known as Japanese Laurel is a bushy, dense evergreen shrub which has wonderful large, glossy mid green leaves, heavily blotched in yellow-gold colouring which can make the leaves golden more than green!

In March and April it bears small dark purple flowers. Being such a versatile, hardy evergreen shrub the Aucuba can be planted anywhere, in beds, borders or as a specimen plant if planted alone, a fantastic hedging/screening when planted in groups and also makes a great container plant.

Aucuba Japonica Golden King care

The Aucuba Japonica Golden King thrives in almost any soil type (apart from boggy and waterlogged) and a shaded location where the wonderful golden foliage brightens up an area. Perfect for a low maintenance garden it is generally disease and pest free and requires little pruning, we will prune our Aucubas in spring to tidy up any random branches which in turn encourage bushy growth.
