Athyrium Filix-Femina Frizelliae, commonly known as Tatting fern is a unique bushy deciduous fern, with arching narrow fronds and pinnae of rounded lobes which create a bearded effect like lace, where the name comes from. One of the more popular deciduous ferns it has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its suitability in UK gardens.

We recommend to plant in a shaded location of the garden like flower borders and beds, rock gardens and cottage themed designs.

Athyrium Filix-Femina Frizelliae care

This Athyrium needs to be planted in a full or partially shaded location of the garden with moist, well drained soil where this garden fern will thrive. We would advise planting this fern with lead mould and garden compost to aid its lace like growth. Perfect for a low maintenance garden the Athyrium Filix-Femina Frizelliae is generally disease and pest free and occasional pruning of dead/damaged fronds.
