Griselinia Littoralis ‘Variegata’, commonly known as Variegated New Zealand Privet is a bushy, evergreen, upright shrub which has lovely leather looking light green, oval shaped leaves which are irregularly margined in a creamy yellow colour. In the months of June through to August the Griselinia Littoralis ‘Variegata’ bears yellow and green tiny flowers, although the foliage is the real star of the show!

The Griselinia is often planted in groups to create a colourful bush and screening shrub, planted in beds or borders or containers. Suited to multiple planting schemes from cottage gardens to coastal gardens being salt tolerant.

Griselinia Littoralis ‘Variegata’ care

Plant the Griselinia Littoralis ‘Variegata’ in a sunny location of the garden with well drained soil where it will thrive. Try to protect from cold drying winds which it dislikes. Generally pest free and requiring minimal pruning makes this shrub a brilliant garden plant for gardeners of all abilities. In late spring you may need to prune lightly any dead or damaged branches which will focus growth on the more healthy, stronger elements of the plant. Once pruned be sure to surround the base of the plant with good quality compost or mulch.
