Calycanthus Floridus commonly known as Carolina Allspice is a lovely, bushy, deciduous shrub which has oval shaped dark green, broad leaves, which in autumn time turn a striking, golden yellow colour. In June and July the Calycanthus Floridus will bloom these dark red/pink flowers which are made up of almost upright strap like petals, known to be highly fragrant and a firm favourite for areas of the garden where visitors can admire.

Often planted against walls, and trellises where the Calycanthus is known to sometimes have a slight suckering habit, covering a normally dull area of the garden, further suiting many other locations, planting schemes and garden types, makes for a good all round garden plant.

Calycanthus Floridus care

Plant the Calycanthus Floridus in a sunny, partially shaded area of the garden with moist, well drained soils, sheltered from strong, cold winds. Known to be an easy to grow garden shrub that requires minimal pruning and low maintenance characteristics.
