Carex Buchananii Firefox commonly known as Leather leaf sedge is a tufted, evergreen grass plant which forms a dense clump of colour. With long narrow, brown and orange tinged leaves arching out of the plants structure providing all year round colour. In August to September the Carex Buchananii Firefox will produce tall erect stems with curled tips and feather like, small brown flowers for added interest. The real star of the show is the foliage colour which is not often seen on an evergreen plant.
A perfect all round garden plant that suits many locations from flower beds and border to container pots where it can be grown in in gardens without grass or balconies/patios. Suiting a range of planting schemes and garden types.
Carex Buchananii Firefox care
Plant the Carex Buchananii Firefox in a sunny, partially shaded area of the garden with moist, well drained soils where it will thrive. Hardy to the UK weather, generally disease free and minimal care makes for a perfect low maintenance garden plant. Often grown by both beginner and expert gardeners. In winter simply comb through the foliage to remove any dead leaves and encourage a healthy, more vibrant colour in the following seasons.
